Ramadan and kids
Ramadan is a very special time of the year for all people, including kids. Kids love the fact of being a chance to fast and the idea of eating yummy food. As a parent it is important to get children involved in this blessed month so that kids can also reap the rewards of ramadan
- Tell them about the importance of fasting and ramadan
The most important way to get kids involved is by telling them about the importance of ramadan and why we fast. By knowing more about Ramadan and its rewards, kids will get involved and why Ramadan is so important to adhere to. If they do not know its importance, they will not see it as a big deal and will not adhere to it.
2. Let them earn rewards
Let its earn rewards by allowing them to fast even if it for half the day when they are young. This will give them the enthusiasm toad desire to adhere to fasting as love for fasting will develop. Do not say to them that they are too young to fast as this discourage them and you will make Ramadan less important to them. Let them read the Quran with you as kids imitate their parents and love to do things with them. Encourage them to give charity and tell them that they will be helping kids like them as this will motivate the child to give.
3. Help with Iftaar
Helping around the house is something kids do not like to do. However, there are ways of encouraging kids to help with preparing the house for Iftar. Tell them that Allah gives rewards to those who help people break their fast, this will encourage the child to help you. kids love helping their parents and if encouraged they will do it willingly. So encourage them to help as kids by nature are not selfish if given enough encouragement.
4. Tell kids to watch themselves
Fasting not only requires one to fast from food but from bad actions. As kids will be going to school and other environments, encourage them not to swear o be bad behaved as this can break their fast. Tell them to be polite and respectful to all those around them and earn good deeds by helping and caring those around them. Ramadan is challenging when yo are not around a crowd that adhere’s to it fully, tell your child that they should stay away from kids who do not know the value of Ramadan as they do not know its rules and regulations.
