Is Mother's Day really Mothers day??

Image
Every year, there is a day is set aside for us to show appreciation to our mothers. We buy gifts worth thousands of dollars that have become a symbol of our love and respect for our mothers. Once the day ends life returns back to normal and mother's aren't much of an importance to us. But why does one day of the year have to symbolise how much we love our mothers, why can't we show her how we feel about her  everyday just as she did for us.  We are the centre of our mother's world from the day we are born till the day we die and one day of the year is not enough for her to express her love to us. Of course we could not be to our mothers what they were to us but as an individual showing appreciation, love and respect is something we can afford to offer for more than one day. We offer it to people we ascribe to be close to us such as friends, colleagues and our own families. We care about our friendships and relationships with those whom we deem to be close to u...

Words are sharper than a knife

Words are apart of our lives and we use them every second of our lives. Words can be a sense of pride, for instance, we laugh and cheer when a baby says their first word or speaks in a complete sentence for the first time. words are beautiful, but they can also have a dark side. Words can hurt, they can scar and change a person's life forever. That is why it is important for our tongues to have a leash as it can cause so much damage. As individuals we live on emotion, we require love, care and respect to fully function and the words we choose to say to someone can effect an individual. That is why backbiting, slandering and all forms of negative deeds that can be done through words are not allowed. The tongue puts an individual in the most trouble as you are most likely to offend someone with your words than your fists or weapons. Most of the time we believe we are making a harmless comment about a friend, family member or an individual but it is harmful as it is easier to repair...

Is misfortune really misfortune?

Image
When Misfortune strikes, whether it is something light or deeply cutting, it can be a very hard for us to deal with it. It scars us and leaves us drowsy, tired, devastated and upset and we feel that a dark cloud is hanging over us. At times we feel that how can such a misfortune strike me ad what did I do to deserve this. Misfortune is hard but is misfortune really a misfortune? or is it something more Misfortune is never greeted with a warm welcome, rather we welcome it with fear, anxiety and devastation but misfortune is not really that bad. Yes, it is bad the moment it strikes and cuts us, however it has the ability to change us for the better. Misfortune does not mean you are cut from all good things in life but it helps you recognise the good things you take for granted. It helps you be appreciative and thankful for them and know how it feels when they are lost. Misfortune does not mean that the world has shut its door on you and everywhere is dark, it rather helps you look at l...

Persistence

Image
Having persistence is important when you make a decision. It helps us get what we set out to do done and we know that we can complete what you set out to do if you have a persistent attitude. Of course the most important thing is that the decision you are trying to fulfil will help us in the long run and is not something you will regret when you are persistent on it. Once you know that you are making the right choice, you know it is time to have the confidence and persistence to make that decision a reality. To do this two things are important; Know that you made this decision for a reason Always remember that you made this decision for a reason and that you know it is something you have to do or something that will help you in the long run. This will keep you motivated and keep you persistent to fulfil it because it is something you need done and have to do. 2. Have supportive people around you It is key to have people who will keep you motivated on your decision aroun...

Kindness to parents

Image
In our lives there are people who strive hard to make us happy and try to give us the pleasures of life we desire. They make it their aim to make our lives complete even if it leaves them empty or even to their graves or in bed. For them, our happiness is their happiness and when we are down they feel down too and try to cheer us up.  When the whole world locks their door from us and slams the door in our faces they are the only ones who will keep their doors open and draw us close. There is nobody who could make the sacrifices our parents to make us happy and make our life easy for us and that is why we are told to be kind and respectful to them. We are told multiple times to respect and show kindness to them: "And your Lord has decreed that you not worship except Him, and to parents, good treatment. Whether one or both of them reach old age [while] with you, say not to them [so much as], "uff," and do not repel them but speak to them a noble word. And lower to them...
