Kids and tech/internet part 1

In today’s modern world, technology has become the source of entertainment and excitement for kids. Its what kids go to after finishing their homework or chores or when they are simply just bored. Kids enjoy the endless unlimited boundaries of fun and joy they can access on technology that never makes them bored. This is whether they are chatting to friends, playing games or watching something really interesting, technology gives it all without having to wait. Once upon a time kids would anticipate the TV schedule to make sure they do not miss their favourite cartoon or episode of a show, but today it is uploaded and can be easily accessed. Once kids would have to go outside to see and hear from friends but today that is no longer the norm for anyone as technology gives easy communication. The endless boundaries of technology is never ending as new forms of upgrades and updates always occur, this making technology beloved by all age groups, especially kids. 

For parents, concerns are always there when a child’s technology and internet addiction is very visible. For many parents technology and the internet are seen as a way for kids to enjoy themselves as the outside world is not what it used to be. This leads to parents allowing kids to use the internet and technology as a form of entertainment since they are at home and need a good laugh and fun. But for many kids, the internet starts to become an addiction an soon parents and kids don’t see eye to eye on technology anymore. Kids start to want unlimited access to technology and the internet and parents see this as unhealthy and a waste of time. Trying to persuade your child becomes hard and even a challenge and this leads to never ending clashes between kids and parents. 


First, it is important to understand why kids have a technology/internet addiction, and here are some reasons why:

  1. Peer pressure
For many kids technology/internet addiction is due to social pressure and the idea of never ending communication with friends. If your friends are on Facebook, Snapchat, Twitter and all other forms of communications or there is this video that everyone is talking about, the most likely thing you will do is look up these things. The world of a child/teenager is about proving yourself, its about making that impression and showing everyone that you are up to date with the latest trends. Since the latest trends are shared and posted on the internet, kids are most likely going to be vigilant and the requires the internet and technology.

2. Endless boundaries
Kids always say I’m bored when they do something repetitively but technology and the internet is endless, so kids are never bored but get more and more interested.

3. Lonely 
Some kids use technology because it is a friend and companion. Parents are busy at work and trying to keep a roof over their kid’s head and make sure they go to sleep full that do not find enough time to sit and chat with their kid. This leads kids to find someone to engage and communicate with and the technology/internet becomes a kids’s faithful companion.

starting a new year

2017 has begun and it was welcomed the same way 2016 was welcomed and 2015 and all the years before that. Laughter, fireworks and big parties are thrown to mark the end of the previous year and welcome the new one but after that live goes back to normal again. Reaching a new year is a blessing because it gives us the chance to contemplate on the previous year and make a change to the new year that has started. Many people do not have this chance because they did not reach the new year and since we did not know we will reach the next year we should use this opportunity wisely. Be Thankful

Sometimes as people we are the ones who burden ourselves in ways that are not necessary and one of the biggest ways we do is by aiming to be what we are not. We love to be what we are not, trying to be a person that is not us by wearing the mask of another. We do not develop our sense of self but try to live the life of another and this leads us to insecurities and self-doubt.
