Loving yourself
As humans we desire love, affection and care to raise are
self-esteem and self-worth. This love and affection helps us to function
properly as we need love and care in our daily lives, however the most
important love that we need is self-love. As people loving yourself is very
essential but what does it mean to love yourself? loving yourself means that
you have self-confidence, self -esteem, self-motivation etc. it means that you
are always looking to achieve the best you can do and keep yourself away from
things that can hurt your self-growth and development. Thus we will break down
the self-needed habits that will help us to attain self-love.
1.
Understanding
who are you
As people we can identify who other
people are, what they are like and their habits but the question is can we
self-identify ourselves. Many of us when asked the question, What type of
person are you? give vague descriptions of ourselves which most of the time are
not true. Understanding yourself and having self-acceptance is a major part of
loving yourself, after all if you don’t possess these qualities then what self
is there to love in the first place.
2.
Self-confidence
and esteem
When you understand who you truly are
and type of person you are deep down, you begin to feel confident about who you
are and esteem begins to build within you. Confidence and self-esteem are very
important factors that allow an individual to discover true love for themselves
because they develop self-motivation to live up to their true potential. They know
what they want to achieve and reach because of the self-understanding they have
reached and know what they need to reach their self-worth and self-love.
when you find self-motivation and esteem your life will begin to blossom for the better |
3.
Do
not concern yourself about others
When a person looks at others and is
interested about the rumours and gossips of individuals around them is due to
the lack of self-appreciation. If an individual wants to attain self-respect
and love, they must be content with what they have in their lives. Possessing self-worth
means that you are content with yourself as an individual, your habits, your
life and everything in it. You know that you are worth something and does not
drag themselves on the floor thinking that they are inferior to others. Loving yourself
helps you ignore the conditions of theirs even if they have things you do not
because you are always content and appreciative of your successes and gains
even if they are not to the level of those around you.
4.
You
are not worthless
Just because you do not possess
certain traits or things does not mean you are a nobody. Every human has their
own unique characters and traits that define them as who they are. When you develop
self-love and respect you aim to use the qualities you have to better present
yourself, not change and become something you’re not. Always know that each
human is different, no two people were born alike, embrace your different and
manifest it to find your self-worth.
5.
Share
these with others
When you find self-love and value,
share it those around you. Share your experiences of how you reached where you
are and what it means to have self-love and respect. This may sound selfish as
self-love, self-worth etc. contain the word self. However, it is not what it
seems to sound like, selfish and self-centred people do not know who they
really are, all they do is envy others and look for courage by hiding their insecurities.
But when you have self-respect you know what type of person you are, what are
your weaknesses and strengths and how to care and share these qualities with
the world around you. So the idea is to share your experiences to help others
find their inner self and discover what it means to be the real person you are.
Finding and discovering who we really
are allows us to develop self-love and respect and this is key because if you
are happy with who you are, then you will not depend on others compliments and
statements to make you whole. You know who you are and you know what
limitations you have and how to tackle them. Yes, constructive criticism is
important as others such as the loving people around may see things we don’t but
it depends on who is giving the criticism and what are they saying that
matters. Only through this may we find our self-respect and dignity.
