Is being a teenager the most challenging thing in life part 2
In our lives parents are very important people, they are the ones
who care for us and brought us in to this world and whatever happens to us,
they are going to be the only people by our side.
In a teenager’s world where constant peer pressure is
present, teens often see their parents as the people who try to stop them being
like their friends and the rest of society. Teens often believe that their
parents follow old-fashion ways and are not up-to date with how the world is
functioning. They believe their parents do not know the latest trends and ideas
that are out there and are dull and boring. Some ridicule their parents when
they ask them to help them work their phone or when they say a slang word
incorrectly, others just see their parents as a constant barrier to having a
good time.
However, many teens forget that the reason why their parents
intervene in their lives is because they love and care for them and never want
to see them in harms way. They forget their parents are the only ones who
desire for them to have a life better than their and would never envy them for
that but would hug and congratulate them in comparison to the rest of the world
who envy and wish them dead just because of the slightest achievement they
reach. Thus parents are tools taken for granted, loved when they can give what
the teen wants and hated once they say know to what the teen wants and desires.
Teenagers attitude and thoughts about their parents |
Unfortunately, the reasons for this are the constant peer pressure kids are exposed to by other kids. Kids often tease each other if a child is brought to school by his parents, follows his parental guidelines and is constantly respects them. These kids are referred to as 'Mamma's boy'girl' or incompatible to making their own decisions because 'Mommy and Daddy do it for you'. Such are told their weak and could never survive in the real world because they are constantly protected and never allowed to do things on their own.
Teens targeted with such words make it their aim to prove that they are not what is being said about them and sadly begin a process to shut their parents out of their lives. they slowly sever the relationship between them and their parents as they begin to see them as the common cause for their bullying, parents in turn not knowing why their child has behavioral changes as he/she don't share their problems. Kids constantly begin to use the phrase, 'my parents don't understand me or my condition and that they know nothing about me' when tensions start to occur when children begin to cross the parental set guidelines.
Movies and shows kids watch further fuels these tensions as the entertainment world portrays parents intellectually inferior beings and uncool. Others present them as the reason why kids can't be free to express themselves. If you look at a variety of Disney animated movies, you will see that parents don't usually exist in the hero or heroine's struggle to finding out who they really are. But the question is, what role does Disney animated movies do to the parents of the protagonists of their movies? Most of the time, they have only two places for parents. Either they die or are seen as the one who opposes the hero/heroine's decisions.....
